In 2018, my world came to a sudden halt when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Even though it was caught early, hearing that word was enough to shatter the long-standing illusion I’d been living under: the idea that I had infinite time to eventually build something meaningful or be truly present for the moments that matter. That illusion of “someday” disappeared overnight, replaced by a clear understanding that life is far too short to spend it building someone else’s dream while mine sat on a shelf.

Like most people, I eventually went back to work after my recovery, but those next 18 months were the most difficult of my life.
