Who Am I & Why This Blog Exists

Hi, I’m Lee Warren-Blake. in 2018, my world stopped.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and the news devastated me. Like most people, I’d lived under the illusion of “someday.” I thought I had infinite time to chase goals, build a legacy, and be present with my family.

Hearing that diagnosis shattered the illusion. After surgery and a long, soul-searching recovery, I realized I’d been given a rare gift: a second chance. A moment to pivot before the current of “normal life” pulled me back under.

The 18-Month Soul-Crushing Reality Check

But the current was strong. I went back to my 9-5, and honestly? Those were the most tormented 18 months of my life.

I sat at my desk, watching every single minute tick by on the clock, feeling my soul erode. I was miserable, and that misery was leaking into my home life. After a deep, honest talk with my wife, we reached a breaking point: The 9-5 grind wasn’t worth the cost of my spirit. Life was too short to spend it building someone else’s dream while mine sat on a shelf.

So I left the traditional workplace behind, and I started again — this time, on my terms.

This is our Time

We decided to chase the dream we’d been deferring: moving overseas. But the truth is, we didn’t go looking for Cyprus—it found us.

It started with a chance invitation in 2021. My wife’s former stepfather had moved to the island in late 2019, and he reached out with an offer we couldn’t refuse: a “free holiday” to visit. We arrived expecting a simple break, but the moment we stepped off the plane, something shifted. We didn’t just fall in love with the scenery; we fell in love with the possibility of a different pace of life.

That holiday turned into a five-year mission. We spent the following years as “explorers,” visiting different corners of the island to see the “real” Cyprus beyond the brochures. After a month-long stay in 2025 and a two-month “test run” at the start of 2026, we finally found our “perfect.”

The move is no longer a “what if”—it is a documented “when.”

The 2027 Exit Strategy

Currently, we are in the final stage of our current chapter. Our youngest son is completing his studies and getting settled into his career—a family priority that comes first. This window of time has given us a clear deadline: 2027 is the year we make the permanent move. This “waiting room” isn’t idle time. It’s the period where I am stress-testing the Systems and building the income streams that will fund our life under the Mediterranean sun.
